My Brisbane Apartment
I was so excited when photographer Hannah McCawley asked to do a small shoot around my apartment! I was also incredibly nervous (I took a day off work to make sure the apartment was tidy and in order). My boyfriend, Sam, and I have been renting this 2 bedroom Milton apartment for almost a year now, and we love it. This has been our first time living together, and I was lucky to be given the freedom to decorate and style however I wanted.
When it came to buying furniture and styling, I honestly had no clue what I was doing. My room at my parent's house was a mishmash of different ideas, styles, and colours, none of which meshed well at all. However, I did have piles and piles of magazines and Pinterest boards full of inspiration, which I think helped me map out a basic plan of attack. After multiple trips to IKEA (I will never eat another hot-dog again), Freedom, Country Road, Replica Furniture, Coco Republic (mainly window-shopping because my wage could never afford such exquisite lounges), a heap of Brisbane boutique homeware stores, and of course the online world, we've ended up with an apartment which I think doesn't look all that bad!
I'm not sure how I'd label my style, but I like things to look clean and simple. I wouldn't say I'm 100% minimalist (I can't help continuing to purchase beautiful homewares when I visit a store - cushions and candles come at me) but I do like my environment to be tidy and relatively organised. If my mum is reading this, I bet she's killing herself laughing. Being a typical teenager, we'd always get into arguments about keeping my room tidy, making my bed, or folding my school uniform (yeah, the basic life stuff). Anyway, we all change and I'm glad I did.
I'd like to quickly give a huge thank you to Hannah. She's a real sweet heart and her talent is absolutely off the scale! Hope you like the pics (there's heaps!) :)
